The Pohh-lice....

I know I haven't been updating my blog and, no, that's not a reason to ask me to do a tag. Haven't really been in a blogging mood of late but now there's something worthy to blog about.

Police cars.

These are the cars we fear to bump into the most when we're cruising at 120km/h.....within city limits. Some people panic when the police behind flashes them to the side...but only to ask about minor things. Some choose to set highway chases but so far, no one's got the guts just yet.

The thing is, police car designs are actually very nice (even for the Royal Malaysian Police) and people tend to look out for them. There's only one thing I like to complain about....performance.

I mean, come on. Think about it for a second. The only people who can afford to speed VERY FAST are people with expensive performance cars such as Mercs, BMWs, tuned cars, etc. Are our Malaysian police gonna chase them down with their 2.0 V6 Perdana or their even-more-pathetic 1.6 Waja with "Cam-Tak-Pro"? Either the chasers are wasting their time and petrol chasing the offenders or the chasee wasting their time toying around with the police.

Someone driving a Lambo or a Ferrari can easily disappear from plain sight within 10-15 seconds. So, how do they expect people to be afraid of being caught from a chase when more and more people are figuring out that speed can definitely beat our Malaysian police cars.

Here are some police cars used or are yet to be used by police around the world:-

The Italians have their Gallardo prowling at 309km/h along the Salerno-Reggio Calabria highway. The world's fastest police car actively in use...currently.

Next we have the reported to be released Brabus Rocket V12 CLS for the German police. This monster prowls its victims on the Autobahn at speeds up to 362km/h with its 720bhp engine.

In London, they also have the Murcielago LP640 prowling their streets for speeding offenders.

In Germany, they also have their Porsche 911 Carrera S in their collection.

Even the Japanese have AT LEAST a Nissan Skyline GT-R34 as a speed-chaser.

Not to mention that the US uses Corvettes, Mustangs and Hummers as their police cars. Oh yes. It's not just in NFS Carbon.

Running from these cars are practically pointless. Therefore, compared to all the other police cars in the world, we look like a bunch of cheapskates in a country of existing rich people with adrenaline rushes.

I understand all the whole pride about having our national cars as the police cars but, please, have a plan B or produce higher capacity vehicles. People WILL buy fast cars and speed like crazy even if Proton doesn't produce such cars. Where there's money, there's a way. Even the Brits use Italian Lamborghinis.

Can it get any more extreme?

On another police car news.....

London, England — "Getaway drivers and outside lane lovers beware!" reads the press release, "The Met Police has teamed up with Brit supercar manufacturer, Caparo, to conceive a brand new Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV) for the future."

The Caparo T1 RRV would have to be the quickest police car the world has ever seen. If you see this Formula 1 inspired carbon car in your rear view mirror don't bother trying to outrun it because not even a highly modified
twin supercharged Ferrari F430 could outpace this thing - it's really quite mad.

It'll scramble from zero to 100km/h in less than 3.0 seconds flat, and will hammer from zero to 160km/h (0-100mph) in 5.0 seconds, which is fast enough to remind you what you had for breakfast.

The Caparo T1 RRV police pursuit car is powered by a 429kW (575hp) 3.5-litre V8 engine that revs to engine speeds that make the new BMW M3 look tired and breathless.

"Capable of accelerating from a Police lay-by to 100mph in just 5 seconds and onto a top speed of 200mph, the Caparo T1 RRV would be deployed to hunt down car criminals within the M25," reads the press release. The M25 is the large stretch of highway that circles London city, home to more than a few speeders.

"Like everything else in the Met Police's armoury, this bespoke RRV is intended as a deterrent. Just check your mirrors next time you fancy breaking the speed limit!"
